Interview with Ellen of Emberbags

Name--
Ellen Belanger Ember

Specialty--
Handmade handbags, purses and totes.

What inspired you to create these items?--
I love fabric and I always enjoyed sewing and the creative process.

What do you create that you don't sell?--
Window treatments, pillows, table cloths, slip covers, shower curtains,
Halloween costumes, pastel and pencil art work and other items I see and think
"I can make that". I have tried and enjoyed many mediums although sewing is
currently my focus.

What is your studio like?--
I have a well lit studio with a large work table (60" x 60", counter top height,
on casters) that my husband made. It's top is upholstered so I can cut or
iron there if need be. My sewing machine is at another table and there is a
third table for packaging. I have good storage but am always thinking of ways
to get more use out of my space as I am a compulsive organizer.

Who is your favorite Indie Artist?--
I could not choose one. I can't choose a favorite color, food, book or movie
either. I like to have many options and rotate favorites.

What can we expect from you in the future?--
Further refinement of my products. I love functional, elegant and simple
design. I try to reflect that in my work.
